SnapRepair ("we", "our", "the app") helps you identify broken parts and get DIY repair instructions. We take your privacy seriously and keep data collection to the minimum needed to deliver the service.
What we collect
Photos you upload for analysis. Used only to generate the AI diagnosis. We send them to our AI provider (OpenAI) for processing.
A random device identifier (UUID) created in your app's storage. Used to: track your remaining free scans, store your scan history, and link your subscription to your device. It is NOT a personal identifier, contains no name/email, and never leaves the SnapRepair systems.
Scan results generated by the AI (part name, diagnosis, repair steps). Stored so you can revisit them in your History tab.
Subscription state if you upgrade to SnapRepair Pro: the platform-specific transaction ID + receipt token Apple or Google gives us, plus expiry date. Used only to keep your Pro entitlement valid.
What we do NOT collect
No name, email, phone number, or address (the app has no login)
No precise location data
No contacts, calendar, or other on-device data
No advertising identifiers (IDFA / GAID)
Third-party services we use
OpenAI — analyzes your photos to identify parts and generate repair instructions. OpenAI's policy states API submissions are NOT used to train their models. Photos are processed in transit and not retained beyond what their API logs require.
Stripe — processes web-based subscription payments. Stripe receives your card details directly; we never see them. Stripe Privacy.
Apple App Store / Google Play — process in-app purchases on iOS / Android. We receive only the transaction ID and entitlement status.
How we store and protect data
Scan data, device IDs, and purchase records are stored encrypted-at-rest in MongoDB on cloud infrastructure (currently Emergent / AWS). Transport is TLS-encrypted. Subscription receipts are verified server-side with Apple and Google directly.
How long we keep data
Scan history: kept indefinitely or until you delete it (tap "Clear all history" in Profile)
Subscription records: kept for as long as the subscription is active plus 7 years for tax compliance
Photos uploaded for analysis: stored only as a thumbnail in your scan history — same retention as the scan itself
Your rights
You can delete all your data at any time directly in the app — open Profile → Clear all history. To delete the subscription record as well, contact us at support@snaprepair.app with the device identifier visible in Profile. We comply with GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations: you may request a copy, correction, or deletion of any data we hold about your device.
Children's privacy
SnapRepair is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the associated data.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where possible, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
